IT'S A dream come true for 16-year-old Lisa Randle who has been chosen as Okehampton's Carnival Queen for 2002.

The Okehampton College student has watched the carnival procession for years hoping one day she would be queen.

So, when the phone call came to say she had been selected she was 'over the moon.'

'It is something I have always been interested in and I am really looking forward to it,' she said.

Lisa is currently studying for an NVQ in childcare and works part time at Stepping Stones Nursery in Okehampton.

Her hobby is showing dogs and she has been very successful in championship competitions.

The queen, together with Prince and Princess Thomas and Gemma Pengelly will be presented with their sashes at the next carnival fundraising event on September 25 which is a fashion show with a difference.

All the clothes will be provided by the Hospiscare and Oxfam charity shops — and there will also be stalls selling Christmas goods.

Tickets priced at £3 are available from both shops.
