A NEW volunteer has joined the Tavistock and District Conservation Project.
25-year-old Lisa Banfield, a student at Seale-Hayne Agricultural College in Plymouth, will spend the next year carrying out valuable conservation work with the project team.
Lisa, who comes from London, has joined the team as part of her degree course in wildlife conservation.
She will gain qualifications in a wide range of skills, such as brush cutting, first aid and coppice management. These will form the basis of her NVQ level 2 in environmental conservation.
The group's work includes dry stone walling, hedge laying, coppicing, stile building and footpath clearance.
They also offer a range of conservation and gardening products, including wormeries, compost bins, bird tables and bat boxes.
All the products are made from recycled materials, and will be available to buy at Tavistock Farmers' Market on October 12 and November 22.
