SOUTH Tawton Primary School's tag rugby team the South Tawton Lions travelled to Tavistock recently to compete in the West Devon Tag Rugby Finals and came home the owners of a shiny new trophy.

After a rocky start, the Lions pulled together to perform well, winning their group by a try difference.

They met a strong St Andrew's team in the semi-final but applied plenty of pressure, causing the other team to make mistakes. The Lions took advantage of this, winning 9-7.

They then played Okehampton Primary in the finals and again, taking advantage of a few mistakes, won 6-4, earning the Lions a well deserved place in the top 16 primary schools in Devon.

The team (pictured above) comprised Cameron, Billy, Tom W, Tom P, Murray, Harry, Josh G, Jacob, Jess, Ruth and Louisa and will represent the West Devon area at the Devon Tag Rugby Finals in June.
