SPOONERS and West Dartmoor Pony Club have had a succesful summer, with four members qualifying for the National Champion-ships in three different phases. Lily Spry, aged 13, qualified for the Novice Eventing finals on Cat Ward's, Woodfalls Thatcher (Dennis).

The finals were held in Cheshire, and a good dressage test put them into 13th position. After going clear in the show jumping this moved them up to seventh place. A confident clear round in the cross country pulled them up to a superb final place of fifth.

The other Spooners members qualifying this year were Katie Spry, aged 15, who qualified for the intermediate eventing, on Lucy Cox's Mollie Malone; Rachel Ware, aged 16, who qualified for the open showjumping on Archie and Kelcey Pillage, 15, who qualified for the tetrathlon championships.

At the area dressage competition held in July the team of Samantha Underwood, Lily Spry, George Scott and Henry Ware came second as a team and won the tack and turnout competition.  Lily was also second in the individual on Meena.
