THE problem with lighting in the sports hall at Parklands Leisure Centre has now been resolved, says West Devon Borough Council. The Times last week highlighted dissatisfaction among some sports organisations in the town that lights in the hall were not working properly. However, West Devon Borough Council say following work carried out last week all the lights are now working, bar one lamp, which has a wiring problem and is set to be replaced at the soonest possible opportunity. A spokesperson for the borough council said as soon as they were made aware of the problem, they had acted to address it, and had contacted the contractor to try to speed up the works. The spokesperson said: ?We will be discussing this and other issues relating to Parklands and Meadowlands in Tavistock, with operators Leisure Connection at a meeting scheduled to take place this week.? Simon Wilkinson, general manager of Leisure Connection, and the firm?s regional manager are due to hold talks with borough representatives. Leisure Connection operates more than 80 sports and leisure centres around the country on behalf of local authorities.
