THE partnership between Tavistock Library and the Friends of Tavistock Library is continuing to be ?successful? and is ?used as a good example of partnership working?. The comments were made by the librarians and passed to members of the friends at their annual meeting on August 4. A number of successful events have been held in the past year, the Winter?s Tales in November being so successful that another event ? Preparations for Christmas ? is being planned for this November. The library?s fifth anniversary was celebrated by a special week for children in July. Future events for 2006 include an Agatha Christie Week, Roald Dahl celebrations and a Local Heroes week. The money for the library raised by the friends? Friday coffee mornings has been boosted by an award of £5,000 from the Lottery Fund, which was the result of input by the librarians and friends. Anyone interested in the work of the library or supporting it is invited to the next meeting of the friends at 6pm on Friday, September 22.
