THE Okehampton branch of the Liberal Democrats held its annual meeting on November 18 at the Ockment Centre.

Chairman Peter Webb said fundraising has suffered slightly due to the recession, with events bringing in £200 less. The total raised so far of £1,058 would be supplemented by a Christmas whist drive to be held later this month.

Regular whist drives will not continue in 2010 and only coffee mornings will be arranged on a regular basis, although additional occasional events will take place.

Shirley Webb, Helen Cann and Ernie Cann were thanked for their work in their various positions. Officers were re-elected en bloc. Bob Elphick and Sonia Lindsay were elected to the executive, joining Peter Webb. Cllr John Young took over as vice-chairman from Peter Webb for the west of the constituency.

Phil Page, chair of the Central Devon constituency, gave his report and thanked everyone and wished them success.
