THE new cricket season will soon be here and Lewdown Cricket Club first XI will be playing in the Devon League, having last year won the Tamar League.

Lewdown is retaining a team in the Tamar League, with the emphasis on providing opportunity for the many youngsters in the club to play in a controlled, friendly yet competitive environment.

The Tamar Evening league will also allow this same opportunity for youngsters to test themselves in a 20 over game.

The club will be entering three Colts teams at various age groups in the North Cornwall Leagues.

Well attended evening coaching sessions will take place in the spring and summer months, on a Wednesday evening at the recreation field.

With the increased number of teams and matches come more requirements for help and assistance. Three more members are undergoing ECB coaching qualifications to help with the increased number of youngsters enjoying cricket. If anyone is interested in helping out when they can the club would appreciate assistance with: scoring on a Saturday afternoon or evening; umpiring on a Saturday afternoon or evening; assistance at coaching sessions to keep the children safe and happy; players for all teams, adult and colts; financial assistance in way of vice presidents, sponsorship, donations desperately needed to replace the pavilion and buy new kit.
