I AM really worried about Devon County Council’s plans to sell Harewood House as a going concern or for development.

I think it is unlikely to be purchased for ‘social care’ so that means the site will be sold for house building.

When plans for the 750 houses on the Callington Road site were announced I was under the impression that this vast number fulfilled the housing needs of the town in its entirety. However, there have been a number of other houses and flats built recently and also more larger developments considered. Surely Tavistock’s infrastructure cannot support any more housing than that in the strategic plan so why are the planners considering it?

How many houses will be allowed on the Harewood House site ten, 20, 30 or more? Where will it all end — if it carries on like this Tavistock will be ruined forever.
