EARLY on Saturday morning, August 14, I was walking my dog in Meadowlands park and came across a lady, (who was visiting/passing through Tavistock), carrying her Yorkshire Terrier puppy which had just died.

It had trod on some broken glass and had bled to death very quickly.

In the bandstand, on the paths and grass were a large number of broken bottles, as well as the skate park area. I picked up five five carrier bags full of beer bottles and broken glass.

In conversation with another dog walker he said he had been in the park the previous evening and saw approximately 20 youths in the bandstand, drinking and being loud.

I am asking the dog walkers members of the public the report such incidents of anti-social behaviour to the police. Unless such matters are reported they cannot be policed or added to their statistics. There is a free phone outside the police station so it need not cost people any money, just a few moments of their time.

It could save not just a dog's life and distress to its owner but make Tavistock a cleaner, safer and happier place to live in.
