OPMs 3
Tavistock 1
TAVISTOCK men?s hockey team visited top of the table OPMs for a difficult game.
Tavistock started brightly with good moves, Phil Honey, Nic Andrews and Ricky Bellard all going close. But they went behind from a controversial goal, when the ball seemed to be out of play Tavistock stopped, allowing an easy goal.
Tavistock?s game deteriorated and within five minutes they were 3-0 down. With OPMs heading for a rout Tavistock?s play was held together by inspirational defending by Kevin
Lethbridge.
Tavistock were more determined in the second half with excellent play between Ness, Aveyard and Barrett. They managed to put a goal back from a neatly worked short corner, Lethbridge scoring this third goal in two games.
Tavistock continued pushing forward and almost scored again when father and son Phil and Thomas Honey combined well. A superb reverse side shot from Thomas rocketed just inches wide. Tavistock goalkeeper Neil Bradley made an outstanding save at the end to keep the score at 3-1.
Man of the match: Kevin Lethbridge.
