CHRISTMAS events in Callington kick off tomorrow (Friday), with a Victorian pannier market, juggling, community singing and donkeys from the Tamar Valley Donkey Park.
The market, being organised by the town forum, runs from 4pm to 8pm in the pannier market and the switching on of the Christmas lights is at 5pm in St Mary's Square.
Father Christmas, in his sleigh, will come down Fore Street, led by a lantern parade which will include youngsters from the primary and secondary schools in Callington who have been making lanterns.
The town band will be playing in St Mary's Square at this time and there will be community carol singing.
A family disco is being held in the town hall from 6pm until 8pm, which is being run by the Friday Night Project. Tickets are 50p children and £1 for adults available from the town hall.
On Saturday (December 3) there is a Christmas craft fayre in the town hall from 10am until 4pm and there are 30 stalls booked covering all kinds of craft and Christmas items.
Father Christmas will also be in his grotto from 10am to 12.30pm and 1pm to 3.30pm. Bookings to see him must be made in advance and tickets are £1 from the Town Hall. There will also be entertainment throughout the day in the hall.
l THE annual lighting up of the Christmas tree at Kelly Bray will take place on December 4 with a local solider who has just returned from Afghanistan and a veteran Royal Marine, doing the honours.
The switch-on at 6pm will be followed by sherry and mince pies at the Swingletree pub. All are welcome.
