VOLUNTEER town clean-up group Tidy Tavi have been given a base, thanks to an arrangement with 1Life at Meadowlands Leisure Pool. Dave Smith, manager at the pool, has kindly offered to provide a home base for the group by hosting Tidy Tavi volunteers in the Meadowlands Café on litter-picking days and also supply tea and coffee before they set off. This will be especially welcome in the winter months when the general organisation of teams and litter picking areas can be conducted in a warm, dry environment. Dave has also agreed to store the group's equipment and help raise Tidy Tavi's profile by displaying posters advertising activities. 1Life staff will even be donning safety tabbards and setting out with Tidy Tavi litter-picking teams whenever possible. Tidy Tavi organisers are extremely grateful for this generous initiative by 1Life and are confident that the advantages of having a recognised centre of operations will make activities much easier to co-ordinate and hopefully help to swell volunteer numbers in the future. The group also expressed its continued thanks to the Wharf Arts and Entertainments venue for its continued support in providing space to park a support vehicle on litter-picking days. Anyone who would like to join in, the next litter-pick will take place on Saturday, July 5. Meet in the café at Meadowlands at 10am. Litter-pickers, rubbish bags and high visibility tabards will be provided as usual. Just bring some suitable gloves for the foray, which usually concludes around noon.
