MEMBERS of the Okehampton branch of the Royal British Legion are being urged to attend the organisation?s annual meeting at the end of a successful year. Branch membership is strong and continues to grow while its administrative efficiency has been recognized by the national executive with the award of the Haig Cup this year. The meeting takes place on Monday, November 6, in the branch social club in Station Road starting at 8pm. Agenda items for this year?s meeting should be submitted to the secretary in writing not later than Friday, November 3. Branch members wishing to be considered for committee membership should ensure their names are included on the list posted on the notice board. Branch secretary Peter Williams said the legion had enjoyed a good year. ?New committee members have been recruited in the past year and there is an enthusiasm within the branch, which needs to be maintained and encouraged if the legion is to survive as the premier ex-service welfare organisation in the UK.?
