OKEHAMPTON Royal British Legion standard bearer James Stacey was recently recognised for his four years of service to the branch at a special presentation ceremony. James, 18, from Halwill Junction, has been chosen to go to Buckingham Palace in July and the county?s VE/VJ Day commemorative event taking place at Crownhill Fort in Plymouth in the same month. He has twice represented the branch and county at national remembrance occasions at the Royal Albert Hall. James has now also become the deputy standard bearer for Devon. Legion branch secretary Peter Williams said James was undoubtedly one of the youngest standard bearers throughout the country, and the branch members felt he deserved to be honoured in this way for his remarkable ?enthusiasm for the job?. James was presented with his certificate at a recently meeting of Okehampton RBL.
