A STABLE in Petrockstowe is launching a scheme to get riders back in the saddle as part of an Olympic Legacy programme.
Easter Hall Park Stables is launching a 'Take Back the Reins' course from February 28 for horse riders and carriage drivers of all ages and experiences.
The sessions are designed to get those who have been out of the saddle for a while back into riding and rediscover the fun and freedom of riding.
Gail Porter from the stables said: 'It's a good way to get fit but it is also great for socialising. We want people to make friends and relationships with both people and horses during the course.'
The course is part of a national initiative by the British Equestrian Federation to get people back into riding, following the Olympic Games. Team GB's equestrian team won more medals than ever before, taking three gold medals, one silver and one bronze.
Mrs Porter said: 'The equestrian events at the Olympics were really good, the venue was excellent, and Great Britain did really well.
'We won more medals in London than ever, and we had a medallist from this part of the world in Mary King, who showed age is not a barrier in riding.
'I hope it inspires people literally to take up the reins.'
