A 1-2-3 stableford was held at Okehampton Golf Club on Saturday and the winners of division one came in with a magnificent score of 86 points. They were Lee Carey, Matt Soby and Steve Hill. Second were Andrew Smallridge, Dan Potter and Clive Yeo with 82 points who beat Harry Hawking, Fred Cooke and Graham Pengelly, also with 82 on the back nine. In division two, the trio of Mike King, Paul Fewings and Phil Arthurs won with 82 points on the last nine from Ron Isles, Ricky Lee and Andy Shapland. In third place were Steve Fewings, Mike Allen and Nick Reilly with 80 points. The ladies? Sheelah Creasy Team have qualified for the quarter-finals of this county competition for bronze players. Although they lost their last match away at Exeter, they have accumulated enough points in the preceding games to be playing at Holsworthy on September 4. The Presidents Trophy team have also qualified for the finals of this County Silver competition, they will be playing at Downes Crediton on September 12, a marvellous achievement for this small ladies? section. The league team, having no wish to be left out of the honours, look as though they will also qualify for their finals, having beaten Churston 5-1 at home. Lin Atkinson, Rachel Spry, Trish Vick, Kath Mansell, Jane Warren and the reserve Kay King, team captain, won with Lyn Hazelton being the unlucky loser. The ladies were giving up to nine shots and won by some considerable margins. Juniors of the club were in action on Sunday when they played Sidmouth at home and with Rachel Spry winning 9-7, Laurence Waldron winning one up, Dan Curtis losing 2-1, Jonny Weller winning 8-7, Adam Clarke winning 5-3 and Rob Wildash ,playing his first match, it was another excellent 4-2 win for the juniors, and keeps them well up the leaderboard with two home and one away match left.
