WE are still plagued with a minority Tavistock Town Council who are impeding the improvement to the appearance of Bedford Square , so that it can indeed become an attractive space for outdoor entertainment, relaxation, and a focal point for town outdoor functions.

These councillors wish to return it to the ugly car park and coach station it previously was, and it is regrettable that new facilities proposed are being limited to what is portable. What a temptation to local collectors of such items!

We now have proper coach parking facilities in the Bedford car park, and substantial dropping-off points less than 100 yards from the square.

There are many Tavistock residents and visitors who appreciate the space and freedom from traffic in the square, and look forward to its greater use and improvement. All that is needed is a little less sour grapes and a little more vision from some councillors.
