THE Alzheimer's Society in Devon is encouraging people to get talking about dementia during Dementia Awareness Week from May 19 to 25.
All are welcome to awareness raising events in West Devon.
On Monday, May 20, the society will have an information stand in the main foyer at Tavistock Hospital and a society representative will be there to answer queries from 9.45am to noon.
On Friday, May 24 there is a Dementia Awareness Day — free seminar, being held at Exbourne Village Hall with talks and activities from 10am to 4pm.
Refreshments and lunch will be provided. For further information contact Jane Stewart on 01837 851300.
And there will be Singing for the Brain for all to come and try from 2pm to 3.30pm in the Parish Rooms, next to the Bedford Hotel in Tavistock.
Singing for the Brain is a free service provided by the Alzheimer's Society that uses singing to bring people together in a friendly and stimulating social environment.
Sam Cross for the Alzheimer's Society said: 'As the population ages, we all face the risk of one day developing dementia. The more we know about the condition, the more prepared we'll be to face it.
'These events are a great opportunity to find out more, talk to us, and join the conversation that everyone's talking about.'
The Alzheimer's Society has a range of services to support people with dementia and their carers in Plymouth. These include the new Devon Dementia Support Service.
