A FORMER Tavistock College student will be keeping her fingers crossed that April 13 is lucky for her next week, as she attends a gala event in London to announce the law undergraduate of the year.

Hollie Turnock, 19, is in the second year of her law degree at the University of Exeter's Cornwall campus at Falmouth.

She said she was delighted to have made the final shortlist of ten in the national competition.

'I filled out this big application form on a whim and didn't really think I'd hear anything after that, so it was a big surprise!' said Hollie.

'I had to go to London a couple of weeks ago for an interview, but it's going to be very exciting to go up for the final — my personal tutor is very proud of me!'

The big event will be held at Canary Wharf — the winning law undergraduate will win a place on a three-week paid summer work experience programme with leading global law firm Mayer Brown, with an accommodation allowance and a brand new laptop computer.
