Okehampton branch of the Liberal Democrats recently held their final meeting in the West Devon and Torridge constituency before joining the newly-established constituency of Devon Central. Chairman Peter Webb reported the branch had a successful year, with events held to date raising more than £1,500. He thanked all members for their support. All officers were re-elected at the meeting held in the Ockment Centre on November 7. Eight members of the Okehampton branch attended the inaugural meeting of the Devon Central constituency held in Cheriton Bishop. Three of the branch were elected to serve on the committee at the meeting. They are: Peter Webb (vice-chair), Helen Cann (executive) and Sonia Lindsey (region conference representative). The last two events of the year for Okehampton Liberal Democrats are a Christmas coffee morning in the Charter Hall, and a Christmas whist drive in the Church Hall in December.
