YEAR eight and nine students at Tavistock College (pictured) took a trip to see the benefits of speaking several languages in the workplace.
The students visited Brittany Ferries in Plymouth to look at how employees of the company use their ability to speak a second, third and even fourth language.
The students were given a tour of the ship Pont Aven, viewing all the areas that the public do not normally get to see. The trip concluded with staff interviews about how language learning had accelerated their career prospects, and staff were keen to emphasise the importance of working hard at school and taking advantage of the opportunities to interact with native speakers whenever and wherever possible.
