MARY and Bernard Langdon have just celebrated 50 years of wedded bliss together. The couple (pictured right) enjoyed a golden wedding anniversary party with 85 family and friends at Tavistock Rugby Club, which was decorated in gold. They married at Tavistock Church on March 16 1957 and have lived in the town ever since. The pair met in 1955 just before Christmas at the White Hart which is now Kivells Estate Agents. Mary, 73, would go to the pictures every Sunday night with her friend and then to the White Hart for a shandy. She met Bernard, 72, when she was asked to become a fourth member in a darts game. Afterwards the pair made arrangements to meet again. Together the pair have brought up their three children, Donna, 40, Steven, 47, and Jonathan, 44. Mary and Bernard have eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Kelsey. Since 1989 Bernard has owned his own business, called Langdon Transport with his son, Steven. Mary said: 'I have enjoyed our marriage very much. It has worked because the relationship we have is give and take.' The couple did not ask for anniversary presents but asked for donations to be made to Waltair Trust. A total of £416 was raised.
