REGARDING the possible burial place of Tavistock's illustrious pirate, Francis Drake (Times, November 15), I should like to suggest that as he was born at Crowndale, a fitting burial place would be the landfill site at that location.
This would be considerably more appropriate as a location for a pirate.
To the organisations which wish to spend many thousands of pounds raising him from his sunken tomb off the coast of Panama.
I should also like to suggest that they take care to avoid the outflow of toxic waste left behind by the US armed forces when they withdrew from their former bases, on some of which they had tested biological and chemical weapons for the previous five decades.
