PUPILS from Lamerton Voluntary Primary School recently experienced what life would be like if they were a rich or poor child growing up in the Victorian era. Class two children, aged between seven and eleven, had been working on the topic of Victorians for three months, and as an exciting way to end the subject Ann Mitchell, teacher, approached the Big Foot Theatre Company, based in Exeter, to help organise a memorable day for the pupils. Two actors from the company came to the school and got the children to look into and act out the roles of children during Victorian times. At the end of the day the pupils put on a play for parents and the rest of the school, visually demonstrated all those things they had learned during the time. Mrs Mitchell said: 'They had a brilliant day. Their knowledge about Victorians has increased by doing role play. 'We have spent time learning about it from books but to act it out was very good for them.'
