Carlsberg South Western League Penzance 0 Tavistock 0 THE long journey down to the far west of Cornwall for the Lambs proved fruitless in terms of goals but nevertheless fruitful for Tavistock who came away with a deserved point. This game could have gone either way with both sides squandering chances throughout. Lee Ireland returned in place of Lee Bevan for Tavistock with new signing Joe Davey from Liskeard replacing the unavailable Sean Cann. The Lambs started the better with Will Stringer just failing to get on the end of a Shane Krac free kick with Paul Cox for the home side shooting straight at visitors' keeper Andy Meeds. A good move from the Lambs allowed James Steer to cross low only to see Krac side foot over from the edge of the area. Cox should have done better as he was sent away on two occasions going wide and making Meeds save after the second effort. Two further chances for the Lambs went begging as the half drew to a close. A Glynn Hobbs run saw him put Will Stringer in and Paul Williams did well to save with Ireland shooting across the face of the goal. The Lambs had good chances at the start of the second half. A Hobbs cross was met by Mark Conday, whose overhead kick went over the bar and the same player's snap shot went the wrong side of a post with Hobbs flashing another effort just wide. Cox went close before Meeds kept the Lambs in the game when he tipped a very good effort from Nick Pugliese around a post. It was only going to take one goal to settle this match —Hobbs, Conday, Stringer and Neil Kinsman all went close for the Lambs but it was the home side who carved out the better chances in the last 15 minutes. Meeds saved from Christian Letts as he raced into the area alone, Steer made a great last ditch tackle to prevent Pugleise and Cox had another chance to put the home side ahead in the closing minutes. Tavistock had the final say when the found they net in added time when Bevan's free kick was bundled over but celebrations were halted immediately with an assistant's flag for an infringement. All in all a fair result from an entertaining goalless game with both goalkeepers saving their sides from defeat and it would have been very cruel for either side to come away with nothing.
