Westinsure Devon Premier Cup fourth round

THE Lambs had an early scare as Kevin Buck beat the offside trap to close in on goal to round Andy Meeds but the keeper forced him wide and his shot towards goal lacked power.

The home side came back and went ahead on 15 minutes with Darren Babb heading home from a Cole corner. There were not too many clear cut chances in the remainder of the half, apart from Craig Hodge heading at the keeper from a Cole free kick.

The second half exploded into life from the start as the Lambs doubled their score with a well worked goal. Dave Hallett won the ball on the touchline at the halfway line and sent in a low pass for Paul Adcock to rifle a shot across keeper Ally Bright to put the Lambs firmly in control.

The Lambs then started to pass the ball around with some well controlled football and from one flowing move Paul Smith headed just over. Cole was unlucky on the hour when he caught the ball full on the volley only to see Bright push his effort away for a corner.

The Fishermen almost got back into the game when a defensive mistake let in Carl Armstrong but Meeds was off his line and saved well. Cole was again unlucky as a similar effort was again saved by the keeper as the game drew to a close.

Not a great performance from the Lambs but the victory sees them into the last eight on January 10.
