Buckland Athletic 5

Tavistock AFC 1

ON a fine sunny afternoon at Homers Park, Tavistock suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of Buckland Athletic.

Buckland's striker Gavin Hammon scored all five goals for his side and was a thorn in the visitors defence throughout the game. His finishing was top class, but he was given far too much space by the visitors' defence, on numerous occasions.

Play was fairly even from the start but the hosts began to get into their stride mid way through the first half and in the 20th minute they opened their account when Hammond latched onto an Antony Lynch pass to fire pass Andy Meeds.

Buckland controlled the middle of the park for the remainder of the first half with the impressive Lynch pulling the strings, and it was his flick that found Hammon unmarked to score his second.

The game was virtually over as a contest when Hammon swept home a right wing cross from Shane Gill. The home side continued to dominate after the interval and it was no surprise when in the 55th minute Hammon made it 4-0 when he scored from close range after Matt Beer played in Lynch to provide the cross.

On the hour Hammond scored again when Darren Vicary played a great through ball for him to convert pass the advancing Meeds.

The hosts continued to have the lion share of the play and could have scored again before the Lambs got a consolation goal in the 86th minute. Shane Krac pounced on a loose ball in mid field and played in Adam Carter for him to fire pass Montandon.

This was a woeful performance by the Lambs defence; they allowed the host forwards far too much space and time on the ball.

The difference between the two sides was evident; the home side were quicker and sharper by a yard in every department. The Lambs could not get their normal passing game going and reverted to the use of the long ball, often resulting in giving away possession to the opposition.

Bovey Tracey 4

Tavistock 0

The Lambs suffered another defeat at the hands of newly promoted Bovey Tracey, after a disappointing performance.

The visitors started brightly and should have been at least two goals up in the opening quarter of the game. In the 10th minute Glyn Hobbs broke free into the penalty area and squared the ball to Adam Carter who scuffed his shot over the bar, when he should have done better.

Minutes later  a fine pass from Shane Krac  put Carter one  on one with the home keeper, who managed to parry Carter's shot to safety.

The Lambs continued to press and had a couple of half chances they could not convert and then lo and behold in the 21st minute the first real raid on the Lambs goal a mix up in defence when Will Stringer slipped when going for the ball, resulted in the ball landing to Lee Pascoe who placed the ball wide of Meeds to score.

Soon after Glyn Hobbs was fouled on the edge of the penalty area but Coxon's shot was easily blocked by the home defence.

In the 40th minute Tavistock went further behind when a Bovey attack down the left flank resulted in Lee Chapman crossing to find Aaron Carroll, who was unmarked in the six yard box to head home.

The second half was much a repeat of the first as the Lambs once again had  opportunities to score, but failed  to test the home goal keeper by not hitting the target.

The Lambs then conceded a third in the 65th minute. It was game in the 80th minute when they conceded a penalty which was converted by the home team.
