Graddon Vending Devon Premier Cup 4th rnd, Ivybridge 0 Tavistock 3 THE Lambs extracted sweet revenge on their opponents from last season to ease themselves into the semi finals. The Erme Valley pitch was in a fair condition despite the wet weather of late. The home side started brightly and Tavistock goalkeeper Andy Meeds had to be on his toes to save from Mark Berry and Ben Smallridge in the first 20 minutes. It was the Lambs who went the closest to opening the scoring on 25 minutes with captain Will Stringer glancing a header onto the Bridgers' cross bar from a Lee Ireland centre. Jamie Middleton hit the side netting and Mark Berry shot over before Ryan Honey brought out the best from Ivybridge keeper Gary Turner and then saw a goalbound effort put off target by an offside Mark Conday just prior to the break. The heavens opened up during the break but eased off for the start of the second period and it was the Lambs who came out of the blocks to go ahead on 50 minutes. Good work from Steve Daly and Shane Krac got the ball out wide with Ireland doing well to cut the ball back from the byline for Ryan Honey to slot home through a clutch of players from the edge of the goal area. Five minutes later they went two up as James Steer broke quickly from defence to supply Marc Conday out wide on the left to send in a cross between defence and Turner to allow Honey to head home. On the hour the Lambs went further ahead as Conday's shot was deflected into his own net by Shaun Hulbert's attempted clearance to compound the home side's misery. The Lambs then took complete control of the game and should have added further goals. Conday then saw Turner block his shot and Daly followed up to shoot into the side netting. Glynn Hobbs came on for Honey on 75 minutes and started to torment the home defence with his darting and strong runs that took him into the area on two occasions to shoot off target with Daly and Conday going close in the late stages. A great all round display from the Lambs in what was a tricky tie for them but they came through with heads held high. 'This was a make or break day for the Lambs,' said Tavistock secretary Eric Pinch. 'We have been involved in three separate cup competitions in the last month and this was our final one, where we had to progress to keep our season alive. 'We can now look forward to the semi final against Newton Abbot at home on January 13 and in the meantime build on this performance to progress in the league and climb up the table.'
