F A Cup sponsored by E.on 1st Qualifying round Willand Rovers 4 Tavistock 0 THE road to Wembley came to a grinding halt at Silver Street as the Lambs bowed out of the competition. They welcomed back Sean Cann from injury, Kevin Parker who missed last week due to a wedding and also included new signing Pete Floyd from Callington. The home side were in the ascendancy in the early stages. But a Parker run down the left gave Floyd half a chance on 15 minutes. Steve Daly put a free kick into the wall. Despite being on the back foot the Lambs were not threatened too much with Cann and Floyd combining on the half hour for the latter to race away on goal only to shoot over. It was the home side that came on strong at the end of the first half but Meeds kept his side on level terms as he dived low to palm away a Pears drive for a corner. Parker blasted over and Meeds did well to tip over another header from defender Nigel Pugh from a Danny Burwood free kick. It had been an encouraging display from the Lambs in the first half who still had four first team players missing through suspension and holidays. The Lambs had an early chance at the start of the second half when Burwood?s mistake allowed Parker to run at goal but he chose to cut the ball back for Cann who could not get his shot away. The breakthrough came on 50 minutes for the home side. James Steer was adjudged to have fouled out wide. Nick Bowrah?s low cross in was not dealt with at the near post for the ball to go through a crowd of players for Lee Woodman to stab home from close range. Parker put an effort over the bar and Floyd was replaced by Daley Simpson in an effort to get back on level terms but that disappeared on 64 minutes. It was an unnecessary foul in the area that allowed the home side to go 2 up and they grasped it with both hands as Paul Pocock slotted home from the resultant penalty. From then on it went from bad to worse for the Lambs. Menhenick got injured to be replaced by John Hajiyianni. Parker had to come off with 15 minutes to go due to an injury, a minute later Cann aggravated his previous knee injury and left the field. With all substitutes used up the Lambs found themselves down to nine men. It was no surprise as the home side took full advantage to score twice more as Everett beat the Lambs? offside trap to go on and cut the ball back for Woodman to get his second on 80 minutes with sub David Hambly getting his sides fourth two minutes later to cap a very miserable afternoon for the Lambs. The same old story for the Lambs. Too many key players missing but they will have to weather the storm until these players return.
