Cornwall Junior Cup
Delabole 1
Gunnislake 4
WITH their pitch waterlogged Duchy Division 1 side Gunnislake conceded home advantage and travelled to their premier division opponent for this second round tie.
Playing only their fourth fixture in seven weeks, Gunnislake were far from their best in the opening 25 minutes. Delabole had two good opportunities but the woodwork and a weak finish saw both missed.
Gunnislake took the lead on 35 minutes. Les Underwood rose well to head home a Joe Pulley corner. Minutes later it was 2-0 as Andy Southcott scored from close range after another Pulley corner was not cleared.
Gunnislake extended their lead five minutes into the second half with an excellent move which saw five players involved as play went from one end to the other.
In the final third Southcott's crossfield pass was crossed in by Wayne Thielmann to Underwood who side-footed home from close range.
Delabole pressed but Gunnislake held firm and the Slaters could only manage a solitary goal.
Gunnislake always looked dangerous on the break and added an 80th minute goal. Andy Wakem showed good strength to hold off two challenges before firing home from a tight angle.
