AMAZINGLY, this was Gunnislake?s first home fixture in more than five months and the result saw the hosts achieve a league double over an in-form Pensilva.
Gunnislake took a tenth minute lead through player manager Geoff Turner-Moore. Matt Avery and Tom Pilbeam combined to earn their team a corner which Turner-Moore curled into the Pensilva goal.
Pensilva were soon level when their attackers produced a neat move that resulted in a well taken finish.
Both teams, on an excellent surface, competed well to produce an entertaining and evenly matched encounter. Much effort did not result in many chances as the midfields cancelled one another out and defences performed well.
The winning goal came on 55 minutes. Neil Kinger, returning from injury, having been out for almost three months, played a through-ball that saw Avery challenge for a ball that found its way to Pilbeam who side-stepped a challenge before firing home from the edge of the penalty area.
Gunnislake have two home games in three days. Thursday sees Southgate visit for a 6.15pm kick-off and on Saturday Godolphin provide the opposition for a 2.30pm kick-off.
