A YOUNG Dousland resident will walk around Burrator Reservoir this summer, to raise money for charity.

Kayleigh Ball, 12, will walk the circumference of the reservoir near Yelverton with her class-mate Toby Samuel, to raise money for children's charity CLIC.

CLIC is a charity that offers support to children who suffer from cancer and their families.

The walk takes place on June 10 and is £3 to enter, with all the proceeds going to CLIC. Kayleigh and Toby also aim to raise as much sponsorship as possible for the event.

Kayleigh, a year seven student at Tavistock College, said she just wanted to do something to help those less fortunate.

'I'm doing it because recently I have been very ill, but I realised there are other children out there that may not get better. I want to help them have a chance to live,' said Kayleigh.

Kayleigh's mother, Janine Ball, said her daughter had been inspired to do this by a movie.

'We watched a film about a girl who was suffering from cancer and she lost all her hair. Kayleigh watched it and got quite upset by it, so decided she wanted to do something to help people that are suffering'.

The three and a half mile walk is expected to take just under two hours, starting at 12pm. More information about the walk can be found at http://www.helpprincess.jimdo.com">www.helpprincess.jimdo.com
