Tavistock 1st 1
Bridgwater 2
BRIDGWATER, currently sitting top of the hockey South 2 division, came down brimming with confidence.
Tavistock went out with a weakened side from their usual strong home team with many young faces in the squad.
But they were not put off by this and started well with some good attacks by the skilful trio of Way, Lovett and Honey.
It was not long before Bridgwater conceded their first short corner of the game with Honey executing a sweet drag flick into the top left corner. The first half continued to be played at a very fast pace with Bridgwater attacking the Tavistock D but the Tavistock defence of Leafbridge, Thomas, Brown and Edwards held strong and did not concede.
The second half started with Bridgewater on the attack and it was not long before Tavistock conceded a soft short corner which Bridgewater capitalised on.
Tavistock continued to sit back and let Bridgwater attack ? their second goal coming within minutes of their first.
Tavistock now stepped up another gear and played some good hockey with Manley linking well with the front two. The game came to a brink when the whistle had gone and a short corner had been awarded to Tavistock.
Leafbridge took the strike and hit the post with it then coming out to Barrett who narrowly missed the left post.
This week?s match away against Bridport Hawks.
Man of the match: Justin Manley.
