THIS was the first match for newly formed Tavistock Ladies and they knew they were in for a tough time against much experienced Barnstaple.

The first from Barnstaple came within two minutes but Kate Atkinson put in an equaliser.

Helen Miller suffered an injury but was ably replaced by Louise Galway.

During the switch Barnstaple broke through and went into the lead. Great saves from novice keeper Gemma Russan kept them out until two minutes before the second half when they scored again.

A bad clearance saw Barnstaple score shortly before the whistle.

The second half saw a quick goal, again from Atkinson. Barnstaple soon replied with a super lob.

Tavistock fought back and a great run by Payne, linking in with Hone, saw Hone net her first for Tavistock.

Tavistock had most of the play and again broke through to even the score with another fine goal from Atkinson, netting her hat trick.

Parsons broke through but a terrific save kept Tavistock at bay.

Player of the match went to Gemma Russan.
