Tavistock Ladies 1st 7 Plym Valley 0 THIS had the potential to be a tough top of the table match. Tavistock went out strong but in the opening minutes of the game it was apparent that the opposition was trying to dominante. With Fiona Dunn, Laura Stapleton and Lisa Butler in defence for Tavistock and with a strong midfield it was difficult for Plym Valley to break through. Town's Robynne Honey had a good game and make some linking play with Nikki Woodroffe and Emma White. It was not long before Tavistock were awarded a short corner and Emma White took an excellent strike past the keeper. This lifted the team's confidence and Sarah Barratt was quick to take back possession of the ball after the push back. Woodroffe was playing some good balls into the D for Laura Armstrong. A shot was taken at the keeper and rebounded but Judy Miller had her stick down and was quick to slot it past the keeper. Butler fed the ball to Julia Firth, who pushed it up to Honey; Honey put the ball through to Woodroffe who took a strike, which was deflected, but she pounced to score the third goal of the match. A confident team talk at half-time made Tavistock realise that the game was not over. Sue Gawman had a much better second-half and the home team's midfield played better with Julia Firth battling whilst being shoulder barged. The fourth goal came from Honey, who swept the ball past the keeper. Tavistock were now working well together. Goalkeeper, Bex Creasy, despite not having much to do did make some good saves. Tavistock's Barratt had the ball and pushed it across to Honey, who slotted it into the goal. With the ball being switched from left to right it was inevitable that Tavistock were going to score again. This time it was from a lovely ball across from Honey which allowed Gawman to get on the end of it. White, Stapleton and Dunn continued to backtrack on players and the final goal of the match came from Honey for her hat trick. This week Tavistock are at home at Kelly at 10.30am against Bude 2nd XI. Tavistock Ladies 2nds 2 Plym Valley 2 IN this friendly away game Tavistock started the match with the first push back to work the ball well up the pitch with some short sharp passing between Florence Huntington-Whitely and Kate Eadie. Following some strong passing and blocking from both sides, a break in defence enabled Tavistock's Emma Passmore to have a clear run at goal and a pass through the D was met by a swipe from Anna Court to score Tavistock's first goal. Plym Valley came back quickly though with their first goal from a strong attack. Good positioning from Tavistock however enabled them to keep possession for the majority of the first half. Following a short corner a second goal for Tavistock was scored by Kate Eadie with a strong hit in the right hand corner, which ended the first half. The second half saw a slight deflation in energy from Tavistock. A quick pass and run through midfield saw Plym Valley score their second goal. Player of the match: EllieEvans.
