OKEHAMPTON Golf Club ladies? section Mail on Sunday team played Saunton away on Monday week.
After some outstanding golf, played in the wind and rain, the teams were tied two matches each. Okehampton were finally defeated on the second extra hole in the play-off.
Thanks were expressed to Amanda Clifford, Penny Deakin, Marcia Jones and Marcia Holwill for their super efforts and their caddies for their help and support.
Twenty-one Okehampton ladies fared better with the weather when they played a qualifying stableford on Wednesday March 17, before the gales arrived.
Silver division: 1, Pam Jarman (18) 38 points; 2, Dawn Phillott (11) 37 points; 3, Amanda Clifford (16) 35 points.
Bronze division: 1, Trish Vick (21) 37 points, 2, Pat Kirby (36) 35 points; 3, Chris Turner (35) 30 points.
Men?s section: The men?s Mail On Sunday Team played Fingle Glen in their first round match on Sunday week at Okehampton.
In difficult conditions the Okehampton team had an excellent result, winning 3 1/2 to 1/2.
