FOR the second time in a row, Tavistock Library regular Kyle Roberts was manager of the month in the library's Fantasy Football competition.
Kyle enjoyed his prize of tickets to see Plymouth Argyle play a Championship game.
Darryl Harrison, who runs the fantasy football competition at the library, said Kyle deserved his second victory, not only for his tactical judgement in selecting his winning team, but also for earning his team's transfer budget by regularly borrowing books.
He said: 'Kyle has become a regular bookworm, and each book returned adds to his transfer budget. It's really great to see someone working at winning the way that Kyle does.'
In the junior category of the competition, Thomas Calvert also won for a second time, picking up tickets to see Tavistock AFC play in the local derby against Launceston.
His team, Tom's Thistles, narrowly beat off stiff competition from rivals Arsenal Champs, The Squidgers and The Potties to emerge victorious again.
Like Kyle, Thomas is a regular library user and his victory in September can be credited to the shrewd signing of Chelsea's Spanish midfielder Deco, funded by regularly borrowing books.
Tavistock Library, in partnership with Plymouth Argyle and Tavistock AFC, has tickets to give away each month to the winning adult and junior players in its fantasy football competition. It is free to enter for all library members and everyone has an equal chance to win, even if you start now.
Library staff have worked out a system of points where fantasy football managers can earn extra 'cash' to buy fantasy players by borrowing books, using the library computer or attending events.
County Councillor Roy Connelly said: 'I very much hope this encourages more football fans to discover all that's going on at their local library.'
