Duchy Knockout Cup Quarter Final Dobwalls 2 Lamerton 0 LAMERTON bowed out of the KO Cup against an excellent young Dobwalls side, but they did have their chances. Playing with the wind in the first half Lamerton were sluggish early on. They soon went a goal down when Jack Bartlett picked up a loose pass and fed Dan Ball who scored in the far corner. They gradually got back into the game and their best chance of the half came when Pete Broomfield got round the back of the defence only to slide the ball agonisingly wide of the advancing keeper. Most of the action took place in the second half when the visitors began more brightly. Broomfield had another one on one smothered by the keeper and as the game flowed from end to end, both sides twice hit the woodwork ? Lamerton through Steve Wickett and Steve Roast. The telling goal went to Dobwalls however, when Bartlett sent over a cross from the right of the box and Robin Cole looped a header out of the excellent Pete Daniels? reach. Sadly the last five minutes saw Lamerton lose discipline somewhat in a game described by onlookers as a credit to the Duchy League. This Saturday Lamerton play Staverton in the Devon Intermediate Cup semi-final.
