TIMES readers are being asked to help solve a mystery by a man from Surrey who has recently finished restoring an historic truck which originated from East Cornwall.

The vehicle is a Trac Grip, a three-wheeled one ton flat truck, with three forward gears and one reverse, possibly originally used in apple orchards and golf courses.

Margaret Payne, whose husband Keith has painstakingly restored the truck to its former glory, said: 'Despite extensive endeavours we have not been able to find out anything other than the details on a metal plate attached to the vehicle, which states it was made by Trac-Grip Ltd, Callington, with the serial number and model.

'We do not know even the year it was made — estimates of 1920 to 1940 have been expressed.'

Mrs Payne said she and her husband would be delighted to hear from anyone who knows anything about the vehicle.
