BERE created history by being the first division 3 side to win the final — also winning the treble.

Premier division winners, Dobwalls, were favourites, but Bere always turn it on in big games.

After a fitness test W Westlake declared himself injured. His brother S Westlake took his place and stormed around the pitch to great effect, putting in tackles and covering every inch of ground.

Bere pushed Dobwalls back and Hann forced the keeper to save at full stretch.

A Durbin free kick was fumbled by the keeper and Hodgson followed up to score.

Bere missed several chances and Dobwalls equalised through Barrett as some Bere defenders ball-watched. For ten minutes before half-time Dobwalls had the lion's share of play.

In the second half, Bere really came at Dobwalls, whose players lost their cool and Jones was fouled in the box. Hodgson stepped up to smash home the penalty.

Dobwalls were all over the place — they had a player sent off and argued with every tackle and decision given.

Bere sub Brooks centred and Hodgson hit home for 3-1. Dobwalls reverted to the long ball and with minutes to go Bere keeper Diegnan saved well. A consolation late goal looked possible but Wheeler cleared with a magnificent tackle.
