LADIES at the Red House care home in Yelverton have been busy knitting and nattering to create blankets for newborn babies in the Gambia.

Over the past two years, the ladies have been knitting small squares to stitch together to make baby blankets after a visit from Debbie Williams, the project manager for the Gambian Children's Charity.

The Red House also held a party recently, raising enough money to send three children to school for 12 months.

The ladies embroidered the name of the care home on one of the blankets so the recipients will know where it came from.

The Red House will keep in contact with Debbie while she is in the Gambia, to keep informed about the children they have sponsored.
