A WEST Devon group has raised a huge sum for charity following a special sponsored knitting event. The Winkleigh Church Wives and Friends raised a total of £2,867.86 from the sponsored knit. It is the largest single amount raised by any group taking part and was an even more splendid achievement considering it was the first time the Wives and Friends group had undertaken the challenge. Champion knitter Maggie Conn raised £672.71 alone. The cheque was presented to North Devon Hospice by Rachel Cooper and Jean Fletcher.
