Exmouth Ladies v

Whitchurch Wayfarers Ladies

SUNDAY saw the Whitchurch Ladies play their first league match of the season and take all 20 points available, beating Exmouth by four wickets.

Whitchurch won the toss and chose to field first, with Cathy Griffen leading the bowlers losing only 10 runs in her seven overs. Kirsty Gray, the heroine of the day took three wickets with Ann Ruddock, two, and Donna Ward and Angela Hunt, one each.

With 129 runs to beat, Whitchurch made a shaky start on the batting, losing Cathy Griffen, Gillian Northey and Mel Leach early on but Kirsty Gray and Sue Paul steadied the ship by adding 64 — 52 to Kirsty. Angela Hunt scored 20 runs and remained not out when the target of 130 runs was reached with four wickets left.

The ladies have a 20-20 game at Mount Wise this Friday and an eight-a-side tournament at Hatherleigh on Sunday, May 22.

n Any girls/ladies interested in joining this friendly club would be most welcome. Whitchurch ladies train on Friday evenings (not tomorrow) from 6.30pm and play on Sundays.
