I'M writing to thank the parishioners of Gulworthy most warmly for their incredible generosity at the parish church's Gift Day on Tuesday, June 11, when I was stationed outside St Paul's to receive their kind contributions to the ongoing work of the church in the community.
During the course of the day, over £1,450 was pressed into my hand, which with gift-aid becomes a total of over £1,700. This is a remarkable total, and I am hugely heartened by people's generosity.
We are endeavouring to thank as many people as we can individually, but I hope that this letter will reach all those whom we are unable to trace personally. Their support is so much appreciated.
The highlights of the day for me were talking with a farmer who has recently cycled from Land's End to John O'Groats, and the sound of excited children's voices from Gulworthy School, as they tucked into a vast array of cakes that we laid on for the final hour of the day!
I am profoundly grateful.
