A PARROT, making an ill-advised bid for freedom, was finally re-united with its relieved owner this week.
The bird flew out of Roy Ayling's house more than ten days ago.
'I didn't think there was any chance of getting him back,' he said.
But a chance meeting in Roy's pet shop with vet nurse Martin Osborne led to the happy reunion.
The Senegal parrot, with beautiful green, yellow and grey plumage, was found on the road between Brentor and Week. He was taken into Westmoor Veterinary Centre, where he was named Kiki and adopted by one of the nurses.
Kiki — whose real name is Charlie — had been pecked by other birds but quickly recovered after being warmed by a hot water bottle.
Mr Ayling said: 'I'm very pleased to get him back — he wouldn't have stood a chance in the wild if someone hadn't picked him up.'
