NICOLE Kidman heads the list of stars appearing in the August and September film programme being lined up by Moving Pictures. The Australian actress stars as The Interpreter, a political thriller set within the United Nations. When she claims to have overheard two men plotting to assassinate an African head of state, speaking in a rare dialect which few people other than herself can understand, she is placed under the protection of federal agent Tobin Keller (Sean Penn). The Interpreter (12A) is being shown on Saturday, September 10. The season of films being shown at the Charter Hall, in Okehampton, kicked off last Saturday with House of Flying Daggers by Chinese director Zhang Yimou. On Tuesday, August 30, there?s the chance to get Closer (15) to Jude Law and Julia Roberts in the big screen adaptation of Patrick Marber?s hit stage play. Clive Owen and Natalie Portman were Oscar-nominated for their roles in this romantic quadrangle with Jude and Julia, about love and lies. All shows start at 7.30pm; doors open at 7pm. Other attractions coming soon include Sideways, Hotel Rwanda, Valiant, Millions and The Hitchhiker?s Guide to the Galaxy. Okehampton Moving Pictures is a non-profit making organisation run by volunteers. The group now has its own state of the art mobile projection equipment and surround sound system which can be taken to towns and villages.
