FIVE competitive bouts took place at the South West Kickboxing Academy (SWKA) training day and grading at Tavistock Commuinity College earlier this month.
Students making the grade on the day and successfully passing were assessed by head SWKA 3rd Dan Steve Lilley.
The day combined self defence, sparring, pad work and fitness, and everyone left the event very tired.
SWKA is looking forward to a new intake of students in January. Steve said: 'Kickboxing is a great fun way to get fit, build confidence and learn to defend yourself.
'Kickboxing can give your New Year weightloss and fitness plans a good kick start with people of any age able to take up the sport.
'There is no need to worry about getting hurt as everything is done in a controlled manner, to make sure people don't get hurt but also learn skills and get fit.
'I've got students from eight years of age up into their mid to late 50's, so age isn't an excuse for trying kickboxing.'
'Friday nights and kickboxing is a great way to start your weekend, allowing you to work out the aggressions and stresses of the week out in a controlled manor, allowing you to go forward into the weekend in a more relaxed state.'

Classes take place at the Tavistock College gym on friday nights at 7.30pm to 9pm.
There are spaces for new students starting on Friday January 6.
