BERE had to work hard to beat Chapel. They had goalkeeper Diegnan to thank for keeping them in the game, as Bere?s defence floundered around on a pudding of a pitch in the first half.

Chapel?s keeper also showed his mettle to keep out a point-blank header from Vanstone.

Hann put Bere into the lead, his shot going through a crowded penalty area.

Bere got their act together in the second half and Chapel defended well when under pressure.

Vanstone centred for Westlake to hit home. Bere were now running the game but overdid their approach work and wasted possession. Aggiss scored at the far post from Brooks? centre. Chapel scored a consolation goal with time running out.

This Saturday Duchy division 2 away to Nanpean 2.30pm kick-off.
