KELLY College is to have a new headmaster next year. College governors this week announced that Graham Hawley, PhD, currently deputy head at Warwick School, will take over as Kelly headmaster and principal of the Kelly College Foundation from September 1. He will succeed Mark Steed, who has been appointed principal of Berkhamsted Collegiate School. Dr Hawley, 43, is deputy headmaster at Warwick School, a day and boarding school for 1,100 boys. Having graduated from Durham University with first class honours in natural sciences before going on to complete his doctorate, he worked in industry before studying for his post-graduate certificate in education at Exeter University. Prior to his post at Warwick School, he taught biology at Ardingly College where he was the senior boarding housemaster. Dr Hawley is married to Rachel, who is also a teacher, and they have two children, Katherine, aged 8, and Jonathan, 6. Dr Hawley enjoys all kinds of sport, photography and walking. David Milford, chairman of governors said: ?We are delighted to have made this appointment from a field of exceptionally high calibre applicants. We feel that Graham possesses the necessary drive and vision to lead Kelly to the next stages of its development.? Dr Hawley said: ?I am thrilled to have the opportunity to lead this prestigious school. Rachel, the children and I look forward with great anticipation to our move to Kelly next summer.?
